Movies & Music

Movies are absolutely lit! No matter the language or genre, they straight-up captivate me. Like, seriously, anything and everything under the sun can grab my attention. I'm all about Indian and International movies and TV series that are mind-blowing avant-garde pieces pushing the boundaries, you know? I thrive on discussing and reviewing the movies and TV shows I watch. It's like my ultimate flex. I get all hyped up diving into the storylines, characters, and epic visuals. And you know what's even doper? Sharing my thoughts with other peeps who vibe with the same flicks. We're talking debates, exploring different takes, and celebrating the straight-up brilliance of narratives from all over. But here's the plot twist, fam - I'm not just about movies. I love Hindi music and poetry too. The beats, the rhythms, and the soulful lyrics? They hit me right in the feels. Whether it's the haunting ghazals or the cliché Bollywood tracks, it's a whole vibe that transports me. The deep poetic words, the legendary poets like Ghalib and Faiz, they take me to another level. It's like a fusion of melodies and verses that sets my soul on fire. Music and poetry are the real deal, bringing me nostalgia, love, and connecting me to my roots. It's a straight-up vibe, where music and words come together, creating magic and uniting peeps from all walks of life.

Director: Ben Affleck My Rating: ***

Main Cast: Ben Affleck, Matt Damon

This duo Ben and Matt always bring something nice together . Their real friendship actually works well in movies too. Air is a perfect deal story of how a brand is made. Some people might like this movie because they love sneakers or Nike or maybe they're crazy basketball Jordan fans. But for me, it is a perfect storytelling of how the great brands are made. Without showing Jordan’s face, the movie created this brand persona which was successful in 1984 and the journey is still going on in 2023. The sneaker market is on fire, sticker heads by sneaker just not to fear but also as investments. Overall a good movie, must watch. But definitely could have been much better.

Director: Tina Satter My Rating: ****

Main Cast: Sydney Sweeney, Marchánt Davis, Josh Hamilton

Once in a lifetime as an actor you get this one role which marks you as an actor, this is exactly what Sydney Sweeny got in this. This is 180 degree twist to what Sydney has done in the past as an actress, you would like to remember her for this movie. This is a thrilling tale, based on a real life story of Reality Winner, the ex U.S. Air Force member who leaked confidential documents about US elections to this news site “The Intercept”. The movie is literally shot in one room with three people. Great performances by all the actors. The best thing I like about the movie is the conversation, the negotiation, the build up that one creates for the other person to say exactly what you want them to say. I'd literally rewind few sections to see again how these arguments are built. Learned a lot for my own benefit from this movie.

Director: Otto Preminger My Rating: ****

Main Cast: James Stewart, Lee Remick, Ben Gazzara

Just like a fine old wine, this classic will let you sunk well into its theme of perfect court room drama.  "Anatomy of a Murder" is about a murder case that immerse viewers in a world of legal proceedings, moral dilemmas, and the complexity of human nature. The film's narrative is intricately woven, revealing the layers of the case bit by bit, keeping the audience on the edge of their seats throughout.  What struck me most about "Anatomy of a Murder" was its thought-provoking exploration of ethics and the justice system. One of the best scene is when the lawyer James Stewart put forward a strong invalid argument in front of the jury. Just the fact that jury heard the argument (even if it was dismissed by the judge) will make the jury members emotional and biased towards his client. Such a smart move. Do watch this Black and white classic drama and share your feedback.

Director: Damián Szifron My Rating: ***

Main Cast: Shailene Woodley

Watch this movie only for Shailene Woodley. I've always liked her, in Divergent, in The Fault in Our Stars. She fits in perfectly as a sad,  troubled female who is fighting a war within. To catch a killer is not so thriller story of this beat police officer who had a troubled past. How she found clues and ultimately get to this mass shooter is the whole movie about. There are a couple of good scenes and was intriguing at some point. But the movie couldn't hold it all together, eventually towards the end you could see what will happen and you can predict the end. I would give it a three stars, it started off well but then lost the shine.
